welcome to the multiverse
frequently asked questions

universe & characters
  • Q: What year is it?
A: On Earth 2024, it is the year 2025. The initial events of the Blip happened 7 years ago in 2018 with Earth's population returning in 2023; the Events of the Multiverse happened 1 year ago in 2024. Journal wise, post as you normally would, just assume the year is 2025 rather than 2022.

    Q: What dimensions were opened?
A: This is an evolving answer. For now, check the Dimensional Database for dimensions that are relevant.

    Q: Where do people live?
A: Your character can live anywhere on Earth 2024. They can even live on other planets in the Earth 2024 dimension. The Avengers compound has been rebuilt and does include private bedrooms for those who need a place to stay or even a permanent home, but your character's residence is entirely up to you.

    Q: Describe the Avengers compound.
A: The Compound is located where it originally appeared in Age of Ultron and was destroyed in Endgame. It has been rebuilt into a a large, wide building with 15 floors. The first floor is essentially a reception space. Floors 2-3 are training space. They include several gym spaces, training equipment, simulators, private showers and bathrooms. The next 3 floors are research and development space with each floor dedicated to a different area. Floor 4 is "magic" related, 5 is technology related and 6 is inter-dimensional / intergallactic. Floors 7-13 are private bedrooms, 20 on each floor totalling 140 rooms. Each bedroom has a small living space and an ensuite bathroom. Each floor has a large living space with couches, tables, televisions, etc. as well as a large open concept kitchen. Floor 14 is "storage" -- think Room of Requirement type storage; you never know what you'll find there. Floor 15 is a collection of giant party rooms. There is ample parking space outside of the building as well as a hangar for aircrafts.

Q: Can people travel within dimensions?
A: Travel within dimensions can be done -- with extreme difficulty. Only beings who are usually able to teleport or cast complex spells (ex. sorcerers and Nexus beings) can achieve this.

Q: Does my character always have to be on Earth?
A: No! They can travel to other planets if they wish as intergallactic travel is now accessible to all Earth inhabitants. If you wish to travel to another planet, you can book a flight the same way you would if you were traveling internationally.

Q: What are the countries/governments like?
A: This is an evolving answer. For now, the continents and countries are relatively the same as they have always been. Follwing the events of the Blip and the Multiverse Event, majority of Europe, South America, Africa and Asia have completely opened their borders and allowed free travel; Canada and Australia are observed as their own countries with open borders as well. Russia and North Korea have remained closed and several smaller islands and territories have limited travel due to limited space and accommodations. The USA has been renamed The United States of Earth (2024). Instead of a president, it now has a council with several inter-dimensional and extraterrestrial advisors and members.

Q: Is Spiderman No Way Home considered canon?
A: No. In our version of events, Peter #2 and Peter #3 came through from their dimensions and helped Peter #1 defeat the villains. It was a relatively quick fight after some much needed bonding. While they were trying to fight the Green Goblin, Stephen Strange was trying to close the dimensional rift his spell created. The Peters helped but they were all too late. The rift eventually closed but the dimensions had already blended at that point. Strange completed the intended spell and the world began to deal with what had happened. Aunt May is still alive, Ned and MJ still remember Peter. Peter #2 and Peter #3 are stuck in Earth 2024.

    applying
  • Q: Can I apply for Character XYZ?
A: As long as your character has appeared in the Marvel cinematic universe, they can be played. This includes the Disney+ shows, Netflix shows, and all films. Please do not apply for Earth 2024 characters who are deceased; this is a perfect opportunity to play a varient of those characters. Characters from Agents of Shield cannot be played in this game; due to their time traveling, they do not exist in this timeline. At this time, The Watcher (What If?) cannot be played.

Q: Who can I use as a PB for my character?
A: You can use any PB for your inter-dimensional characters! For the time being, and to make it less complicated, we would prefer if the canon characters of Earth 2024 are played by their respective actors. (ex. Bucky Barnes is played by Sebastian Stan, Thor is played by Chris Hemsworth). The only exception for this is T'Challa -- if you would like to play him but are not comfortable using Chadwick Boseman, you are able to change his PB.

Q: How many characters can one writer play?
A: For the time being, we are capping that number at 2. We may change that at a later date.

Q: Do I need to show you examples of my writing?
    A: Nope!

    activity
  • Q: What happens if I forget to post an intro?
    A: You will be removed.

Q: What happens if I don't reply to comments in my intro?
    A: You will be removed.

    Q: When should I update:
A: Please refer to the Update Periods. Removals are done on the last Friday of each month or the last day of an update period. Updates will not be required in January however, inactive users will be removed. If you are added in the last week of the update period, you are required to update by the following removals. For example, if you are added on February 21st or 24th, you will have until March 25th to update.

Q: What happens if I can't update in time?
A: If you have not posted an update or post in #newheadquarters by the last Friday of the month, you will be given a reminder exactly 1 week before monthly removals. If you do not update, you will be removed. However, if you are unable to update and comment the screened post to let us know by the last Thursday of the month, before 11:59pm, (you do not need to explain your reasoning!) you will be given a 1 week grace period. You then have until the following Friday at 12pm to update. You cannot do this twice in a row or four times in total. The 3rd grace period will be your last; if you fail to update after that, you will be removed.

Q: Can I reapply after being removed?
A: Yes, but please be aware that characters are added on a first come, first serve basis and if someone else applies before you do, they will be added instead. Also be aware that if you are removed after a 3rd grace period and readded, you will not be allowed any graces for the next 3 months.

Q: What if I get really busy irl and can't update/be active?
A: We completely understand that your personal life is more important than roleplay. You can always comment us to let us know you will not be as active or to request a hiatus. However, if you have shown no previous activity, a discussion may need to be had.

Q: Can I go on hiatus?
A: Yes. Please comment the contact post. You are able to take up to 4 weeks of hiatus.

    journals
  • Q: What should I update about?
A: Personal updates in your journal can be anything you want and can be interactive, if you would like. Keep in mind, when posting narratives (a scene from your character's perspective), comments are usually disabled.

    Q: What can I post to #newheadquarters?
A: Again, posts in the community can be anything you want however, they must have comments enabled. Posts in the community are, by nature, interacive. You can post lyrics, questions, something weird and cryptic -- literally anything!

Q: How do I write a scene with another character?
A: There are many ways you can write scenes with others. All scenes except public, multi-character events, must be kept in your journals in order to keep activity in #newheadquarters completely public.

    1.     A scene posted in #newheadquarters must be open to anyone in the community and therefore must take place in a public space or area where multiple people can access, like the Compound. You do not have to post this kind of scene in #newheadquarters; it can be posted in your journal if you prefer.

    2.     A scene posted in your journal can be open to muliple people or just one person. Scenes in your journal can be friends only or custom filtered for the people you are writing with. These scenes can take place in any location.

Please be aware that some scenes may contain adult themes. If you are not comfortable making those scenes public, please custom filter them. All scenes in a public forum must be under a cut regardless of content.

As we get more into the game, the FAQ will be updated to add relevant information.
